Fergie refuses to flaunt Latin roots
Posted by Fai on April 15th, 2008

Black Eyed Peas star FERGIE is proud of her Latina roots - but refuses to flaunt her South American heritage.

The great-grandmother of the singer, real name Stacy Ferguson, hailed from the highlands of Mexico, and the star admits she’s inherited her fiery personality from her relatives.

She says, “Yes, I have Mexican in my ancestry. My Dad’s grandmother was born in Guanajuato. I’m very proud of it; that’s probably where I get my fire!”

But Ferguson insists she’ll continue to keep her Latin roots low key “because there are many more full-bred Latinas that are out there to represent”.
