Brown Shoe Co., which operates the Famous Footwear shoe store chain, said Thursday it will partner with singer Fergie to create a shoe brand.

Brown Shoe product developers are collaborating with Fergie for the line, which will debut in spring 2009.

The partnership was facilitated by Fergie’s marketing agents at Wilhelmina Artist Management.

Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, is a member of the Black Eyed Peas.

Brown Shoe shares fell 34 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $16 during midday trading. The stock has traded between $11.89 and $33 during the past 52 weeks.
